#2 Would it be possible to achieve a smooth transition between the editors? For example, if you open MC inside CP - Would it be possible to fade out CP while SCS fades in from the right side?
I do not think the different height of the editors would be an issue here. One will fade out completely while the following appears so you won’t see any jump like in BS. There, both are visible at the same time and the animation looks more like a slider.

Without the main editor in the background, it is easy to lose context and I think this animation is crucial in understanding what just happened when you access the sub-content editor. Especially for new users that are unfamiliar with H5P nested editors.

#3 As long as we can position the user to the proper content once he clicks “Done“ I think we won’t have issues. So when you confirm IV/CP inside the Column, the CP/IV editor would fade out and the Column editor would fade in from the left side (being positioned to show the proper content)

This above is how I would expect this to work but if there are limitations we can discuss it and try to find the best solution!

This looks good to me but I have a couple of notes:

  1. For smaller things like Text, Image, Table, etc. maybe we should consider still having some small dialogs over the content? For the larger content types the solution works great, but when I insert something with one text field I quickly lose context, e.g. how tall was the video and how many lines of text should I use - the content type’s editor/WYSIWYG is gone so I don’t really have any reference without toggling back and forth.

  2. Regarding the switching animation, we really have to think through how the animation should work so we don’t end up with the same issues as the Branching Scenario view where things jump up and down. E.g. what will happen to longer forms with scrollbars?

  3. How will this look in Column when we have multiple CPs and IVs above each other?

Will you create an implementation issue for this?

Note: Follow the steps below to review each screen:

  • Click Video in the menu to enter IV editor. Notice the menu at the top

  • Click Done to go back to CP. Notice the way the menu changes

  • Click the video on the slide 2 times to enter IV editor again

  • Click SCS in the menu to see SCS inside IV inside CP

  • Click Done to go back to IV

  • Click Done once more to go back to CP

  • Click Text in the menu to see Text inside CP

  • Click Done to go back to CP

  • Click Fullscreen to see the full-screen mode (HFP-2717)

In the implementation - you should be able to go back to the previous editor by clicking Done or to go to any level by clicking the content title in the breadcrumbs/menu. This will have the same effect as clicking on Done
